Prof. Dr. Emin KANSU
Dr. Kansu graduated from Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine in 1970 with the “Ihsading Achievement Award.” Between 1971 and 1972, he completed his Internal Medicine internship at New Jersey Medical College, followed by specialization in Internal Medicine, Hematology, and Immunology at Thomas Jefferson University from 1972 to 1980. In 1980, he returned to Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine, becoming an Associate Professor the same year and a full Professor in 1988.Dr. Kansu has been actively involved in Hacettepe University Cancer Institute since its establishment, holding positions such as Head of the Department of Basic Oncology, Director of the Cancer Institute, and Chair of the Stem Cell Sciences Department. He served as a member of the Higher Education Council (YÖK) from 1992 to 1996 and retired from Hacettepe University in 2014.Dr. Kansu is an Honorary Member of the Turkish Academy of Sciences (TÜBA) and has received awards such as the TÜBİTAK Incentive and Science Awards, Eczacıbaşı Science Award, and the Hacettepe University Outstanding Science Award. He served as the President of the International Society of Hematology (ISH) from 2014 to 2018. Currently, he holds the position of “Adjunct Professor” at the Hematology Department of Thomas Jefferson University School of Medicine in Philadelphia.Dr. Kansu’s areas of interest include stem cell transplantation, hematopoiesis biology, chronic graft-versus-host disease, scientific research, and ethical issues.
Prof. Dr. Goncagül HAKLAR
Prof. Dr. Goncagül Haklar was born in Izmir in 1966. After completing her primary, secondary and high school education at TED Ankara College, she graduated from Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Medicine in English in 1989. She started her specialty training at Marmara University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Biochemistry and Clinical Biochemistry in 1990. After his 1994 specialization, he became Associate Professor in 1998 and Professor in 2003 in the same department. Prof. Haklar has 113 articles published in international journals, 22 articles published in national journals, 284 papers presented in national and international congresses, 45 conference speeches in Turkey and abroad and 19 book chapters. He is also the recipient of 27 awards given by local and foreign organizations.
Prof. Dr. Goncagül Haklar works as the clinical and education officer of Marmara University Pendik Training and Research Hospital Biochemistry Laboratory. In addition to contributing to the education of thousands of students throughout her professional life, she has trained 43 medical biochemistry specialists. Apart from his busy schedule, he writes travel articles, gives travel and history seminars, paints and takes photographs.
His first book Geze Yaza Bi’ Dünya was published in 2022.
She is married to orthopedics and traumatology specialist Prof. Dr. Uğur Haklar and is the mother of architect Deniz Haklar and civil engineer Onur Haklar.
Prof. Dr. M. Sühan AYHAN
He was born in Ankara in 1969. He graduated from Ankara Atatürk Anatolian High School in 1986. He graduated from Ankara University Faculty of Medicine in 1992. Between 1992 and 1998, he received his Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Specialty Training at the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Faculty of Medicine, Gazi University.
Between 1998 and 1999, he worked as a fellow in experimental microsurgery at The Cleveland Clinic Foundation, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio, United States. In 2000, he was appointed as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Faculty of Medicine, Gazi University. He became an Associate Professor at the same university in 2001. In 2002, he worked as a clinical fellow in the field of “Perforator flaps and breast reconstruction” at the Plastic Surgery Clinic of Ghent University in Belgium for 3 months with the Stephen S. Kroll Scholarship. He became an Associate Professor in 2004. He was appointed as a Professor in April 2010. He served as the Head of the Hand Surgery Department from 2007 to 2011, and as the Vice Coordinator in the Coordinators Board from 2004 to 2012. Additionally, from February 2022, he has been serving as the Head of the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Faculty of Medicine, Gazi University, and has been practicing as a freelance physician since 2010.
Dr. Ayhan has a total of 139 scientific articles, nearly 800 citations to these articles, 7 book chapters, 1 translated book chapter, and 2 translated books, resulting in an H-index of 17. He is a member of national associations such as the Turkish Plastic, Reconstructive, and Aesthetic Surgery Association, Reconstructive Microsurgery Association, Wound Care Association, and international associations such as the European Association of Plastic Surgeons (EURAPS) and the Pyrenean Club of Plastic Surgeons. He served as a board member of the Reconstructive Microsurgery Association from 2006 to 2016, and as a board member of the Turkish Plastic, Reconstructive, and Aesthetic Surgery Association from 2008 to 2016. He served as the President of the Reconstructive Microsurgery Association from 2014 to 2016, and as the President of the Turkish Plastic, Reconstructive, and Aesthetic Surgery Association from 2018 to 2021.
His clinical interests include aesthetic and reconstructive breast surgery, aesthetic and reconstructive nasal surgery, aesthetic surgery of the face, body, and extremities, post-oncologic and post-traumatic reconstruction, microsurgery, while his academic interests include medical education, clinical skills training, and microsurgery training.
Prof. Dr. Murat Aksoy
Dr. Murat Aksoy was born in Istanbul on 11.09.1970. He completed his primary and secondary education at Şişli Terakki High School, Levent, respectively.
He completed his studies at Primary School and Kadıköy Anatolian High School. He graduated from Istanbul University Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine in 1994 and received the title of medical doctor. He completed his General Surgery specialization training at Istanbul University Faculty of Medicine in 1999. He worked in the Vascular and Endocrine Surgery Service of Henri Mondor Hospital in France between 2004-2005. associate professor in 2006and became a professor in 2013.
Dr. Murat Aksoy has worked in vascular surgery associations operating at home and abroad. He has book chapters, articles and congress presentations on vascular surgery published both domestically and abroad. In addition, he publishes on public health and is the author of the books “My Doctor is with Me-Zamane Diseases” and “50 Suggestions for 100 Years of Life”. He was the editor of Literatür Aktüel magazine.
He works in visual media as a program presenter and editor. In Turkey, on Kanal D, Kanal 24, NTV, Habertürk and TV360; He made health programs at BRT in TRNC. He currently moderates the program “Murat Aksoy’la Haftasonu” on Star TV. Health information activities continue in the digital environment via the website and YouTube channel.
His main hobby is music. The group called Kord Vokal, consisting of doctors, has been going on for 10 years and Dr. Murat AKSOY is the soloist of the group.
He currently works in the Department of Cardiovascular Surgery at the American Hospital and Koç University Faculty of Medicine Hospital and at Maçka Emar Polyclinic.
Dr. Murat Aksoy is married to İlay Aksoy (51y) and has two children (Melisa (19y) and Tibet (15y)). He speaks and writes very good English, good French and intermediate German.
